I am all about weekend getaways. Three to five hours on the road and a couple days away is the perfect amount to scratch that travel itch. It relieves the stress of having to submit any time off work, and the perfect opportunity to bond with family or friends, a quick refresh and have change of scenery. Recently I had family in town from France and we planned a mini road trip to Santa Barbara, CA.
A mini getaway calls for a mini wardrobe capsule, and your wardrobe needs to be appropriate for the weather and places you’ll visit. The hard part is figuring out what to pack – especially if you’re the type that likes options. The key is to select a limited number of essential pieces that work well together, and you can create 3-4 looks, that work with your itinerary. For example, 3-5 hero pieces like a dress, your favorite jean, and some fort of comfortable bottom, a button down shirt and a jacket or coat are ideal multipurpose pieces that can be styled in many different ways. Don’t forget accessories as they’re great elements that can help dress up or down a look.
Because I’m someone who likes to do little pit stops while on the road, I like to put on a good and comfortable outfit for the road. Here I wore an oversized button up, styled over a tee and paired it with my favorite jeans. Finished with some flats, sunnies and some jewelry. A chic but comfortable look that works for photo op moments.
