I recently took a three-day work trip to New York City—any excuse to visit is always exciting, whether for work or leisure. There’s something undeniably special about the city. I’m constantly enamored by its vibrant culture, the effortless street style, and, of course, the incredible food. It’s an artistic, high energy environment that never fails to inspire me. I could go on about everything I love, but I’ll stick to the focus of this post: what I packed.
Since it was a short trip, I planned my outfits carefully to maximize space and avoid overpacking. With cold weather in the forecast, I had to be strategic—especially when deciding between my carry-on or medium-sized luggage. One of my go-to packing tricks for winter travel is wearing my bulkiest coat to the airport, which helps free up room in my suitcase. I packed two additional layers: a denim jacket and a blazer—both versatile for casual outings and work meetings. A faux fur coat was a must, so I wore that as my travel outfit.
For bottoms, I stuck to my essentials: one or two pairs of jeans and either sweatpants or track pants for the airport and downtime. When it came to tops, long sleeves, sweaters, and cozy knits were my go-to. The key to packing for a quick trip is choosing versatile pieces that layer well and work for multiple occasions.
